From acting to running track to now owning her own production company “Kiss and Tell Productions”, Denisha Hardeman definitely has a very bright future ahead of her.

Thank you so much for taking part in this interview!! Please tell our readers a little bit about yourself.

Aww no it’s my pleasure! Thank you so much for interviewing me! Well for everyone that doesn’t know my name is Denisha Hardeman. I am an upcoming actress, writer and producer. I grew up in Houston, Tx so I have all the southern hospitality in the world. I love sports and cooking!!

Growing up in Houston, Texas, did you always want to be an actress or were you focused on other interests?

Oh Yes! I have been acting since I was about 4 years old! I great up entertaining at church, school, the park, everywhere! Always was a passion of mine!

Although you were accepted into a prestigious performing arts school, you chose to accept a track scholarship from another school instead. What made you make that decision?

Well, even though acting was a big passion if mine, I felt that it was an impossible dream. I was very, very good at sports and that was my safe route. I knew that track and field was going to get me a scholarship. I was a little scared to take a chance when I was younger. So I just chose the safe route and focused on school and sports!

How was it being a part of the hit movie ‘Django Unchained’?

It was the best time of my life. Even though I wasn’t a lead or anything, it really was the greatest experience of my life! I wouldn’t change it for the world. Everyone has to start somewhere and that was definitely a great start for me!

How did it feel to get support and encouragement from legends Quentin Tarantino and Samuel L. Jackson? I can only imagine that it was an amazing feeling.

Oh wow! It was a loss for words! I didn’t even think they would notice me let alone talk to me. I don’t even think they know that their words and encouragement was the reason I even moved to LA. I have looked up to everyone on that set for years! And for them to encourage me and give me tips was the best thing that could have ever happened to me! It sparked a plug in my brain that I can actually do this!

How did you and Paula Jai Parker meet and become close and how much influence has she had on your life and/or career?

Paula and I met at one of her classes she was having at the Hoover Rec Center in LA. After a couple of meetings, I sat down with her one on one and told her that I left everything in Texas. I left my family, my friends, school, everything and that I wanted this more than anything. She so much of her in me that she took me under her wind. She respected me and respected my hustle. She cast me in her play and starred me in her directorial debut movie. She has gotten me IMDB credits, let me cast and produce some of her stuff, introduced me to people in the industry. She has went above and beyond for me and I will always love her for that! She got me on the right path and made sure I didn’t make the same mistakes she did. She keeps me safe from the snakes in Hollywood while still letting me shine. She is my hollywood mom, my big sister. I will always have her back no matter what.

Where do you see your career in 5 years?

I see myself on the big screen. I see myself writing and making movies/television shows people want to see! I think it’s time for new talent to take over Hollywood! It’s our time. I would love to be the female Spike Lee. Making people stars including myself. I see myself as a working actress which is completely different from being just an actress. God willing I’m going to be able to make my dreams come true!

We see that you and your manager started your own production company. Tell us why you started ‘Kiss and Tell Productions’?

Like I said I want to be the female Spike Lee, F. Gary Gray and John singleton and even the next Quentin Tarantino! They made stars with their movies. They took new talent, developed them and made cult classics. I love their journeys and their hustle. So Kiss and Tell was a way for us to write our own stuff, cast who we want and make great movies for new and old talent. It was a chance for us to make our dreams in our own way. We are ready to kick the door down in Hollywood and let them know we are here and we are serious!

Can you tell us some of the upcoming projects that we can expect from you?

I’m working on so, so much! I have 3 scripts I’ve written that are being looked into. Of course my main focus is my movie, “8 Lanes” which is a movie about my life. It focuses on domestic violence and sexual abuse. Also, two comedies I did last year are set to premiere next year. I am also working on a movie with one of my great friends, Jahmar Hill. His first movie has been doing extremely well so we want to keep pushing while he has his big buzz!

What is the best advice you can give to any up and coming actors/actresses?

Don’t make excuses! Just do it! Don’t be scared. If this is your passion and you are in it because you love it, go for it. You are going to be told no in this industry. That shouldn’t keep you down. You never know what doors are opening for you! Just keep your faith, keep believing, keep praying and keep working! Always stay active! Stay in classes, stay auditioning, stay in workshops and network network NETWORK! My best advice would be to create your own content and show Hollywood who you are! Never wait on them!
